As use of ICT for construction equipment became more common, things like crewless dump trucks, IT execution, and KOMTRAX were further developed. Hybrid equipment that decreased both fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission was introduced and marked a new generation of construction machines.

Komatsu Medium size wheel loader WA380-7 WA380-7

WA470-7 is a newly launched large size wheel loader that meets the 2011 off-road engine emission standards. It is equipped with the new generation engine that meets the emission regulation in Japan, North America and Europe. In addition, it achieves a high level of productivity and both mileage performance by adopting new engine control system "Komatsu smart loader logic" with a large-capacity torque converter, a wide range lock up clutch, automatic kick down and reduced fuel consumption.

It also improves safety and visibility, equipped with the new rear view camera monitor and the new large size pillar-less ROPS cab which expanded the glass area of the lower front.

It employs the 7-inch HD LCD color monitor in the operators cab which ensures safe, accurate and smooth operation as well as supports energy efficient operation with integrated display of the eco-guidance system.

It was 1949 when the first wheel loader was manufactured in Japan, however, it was not until mid 1960's when Komatsu entered the wheel loader market aligning with International Harvester. From JH series in the beginning, to the 500 series, to Komatsu's original WA series, our wheel loaders have met the needs of construction sites by scaling up, coping with the environment and adopting advanced technology such as mechatronics and IT.
