The Museum of CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT

2010 OPEN

As use of ICT for construction equipment became more common, things like crewless dump trucks, IT execution, and KOMTRAX were further developed. Hybrid equipment that decreased both fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission was introduced and marked a new generation of construction machines.

(2019)

Komatsu Motor grader GD405-7

While maintaining the maneuverability of the 3.1m grader that are required in various work sites, the most up-to-date technology has been gathered to realize the most optimal and compact vehicle possible. In addition, the electrical work lever that is a first to be outfitted in a model for the domestic market is light and maneuverable, and can be operated while having the elbows resting on the arm rest. The maneuverability of the arm during work has been reduced to as much as 92% when compared to previous models.

Furthermore, the floor height has been set 170mm higher than previous models in order to have the same eye level sitting down as when standing up. Even from the sitting position the front can be viewed just like when standing, making for safer working conditions. In addition, the visibility of the front view has been improved due to a new type of cab, and the safe and comfortable seating during work has contributed greatly to reducing the wear and tear of the operators.

For the transmission, the HST (Hydro-Static Transmission) has been adopted for the first time for a Komatsu Motor grader, and aside from moving and stopping freely using one pedal, the controls have been greatly improved to achieve super-low speeds (2km/h and under) that is vital during the finishing stages.

In addition, aside from the operation management of the KOMTRAX(Komatsu Wireless Monitoring System), it can provide beneficial information to customers such as energy-saving operation support reports, etc. Furthermore, all new vehicle purchases comes included with the “KOMATSU CARE” service program that offers a warranty extension and free maintenance for power lines and contributes to reducing total life cycle costs and long-term operation.

Other Equipment OPEN

There were other construction machines built by Komatsu over the years. We can see how the various designs mirrored different eras if we look at them set against the flow of history.
