While equipment built to accommodate urban environments, by generating less noise, vibrations and emission, became more common, super sized equipment that could withstand harsh working conditions in places like giant mines were also developed.

Komatsu Reach tower crane LT300 Pythagoras

This model was equipped with the new boom structure that was a combination of vertical and horizontal booms. Its deep reach made it easy to carry construction materials in crowded residential areas and in cities. It was also suited for construction where it needed to reach over electric wires, mountains, transporting materials that were horizontal or extra long. It could move freely within a radius of 18m after straddling over an obstacle that was as high as a 5-story building.
