The Museum of CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT

2010 OPEN

As use of ICT for construction equipment became more common, things like crewless dump trucks, IT execution, and KOMTRAX were further developed. Hybrid equipment that decreased both fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission was introduced and marked a new generation of construction machines.

Komatsu Mini size hydraulic excavator PC18MR-5/PC20MR-5/PC25MR-5

A new mini shovel focusing on “usability.”

The PC18MR-5 has adopted the back surface structure of a boom hydraulic cylinder to safely work without the worry of bumping the cylinder during loading to a dump truck or when excavating. With the addition of the highly-refuted ease of compound operation, it has improved work efficiency by 15% compared to our company’s previous models.

The PC20MR-5 and PC25MR-5, by transferring the swing cylinders to the left side of the vehicle has greatly decreased the amount of excess leftward swing of the vehicle and make it safer and more easier to work without worrying when near a wall.
In addition, the machine mass of the PC20MR-5 is not standard issue, but is restricted to under 2 tons even for canopy and arm crane specifications, as well as the newly added PC25MR-5 (to the 2.5 ton class) designed to be under 3 tons, even when fully-equipped. Each 2 ton and 3 ton trucks can transport legally and has high transportability.

All 3 types have adopted a walk-through area structure to climb on and off from both left and right sides, as well as the 3 to 5 ton higher classes all coming standard issue with semi-high back seats with spacious foot room and comfort for the operator. In terms of safety, it comes newly issued with lever lock release switches, seatbelt warning alarms to improve safety.

Hydraulic excavator OPEN

Since its first emergence in 1951, it took only 50 years for the hydraulic shovel to establish its primary position on construction sites worldwide. Its size ranges from mini to super size depending on the scale of construction, and during the half century, it kept evolving by achieving a minimum rear-swing radius and adapting styles that would work with characteristics of each site. Mirroring the movement of a human hand, a hydraulic shovel will continue to evolve during the 21st century.
