The Museum of CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT

2010 OPEN

As use of ICT for construction equipment became more common, things like crewless dump trucks, IT execution, and KOMTRAX were further developed. Hybrid equipment that decreased both fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission was introduced and marked a new generation of construction machines.

Komatsu Dump truck HD1500-8

Equipped with an engine with the displacement increased from the conventional 45L to 50L, it achieves powerful traveling with a voluminous rated output of 1,175kW. Safe and speedy downhill travel is made possible by using a high-capacity retarder together with an auto retarder, and high productivity is realized by shortening the cycle time. Komatsu Traction Control System (KTCS), the slip control technology effective for running on slippery roads and soft grounds, is adopted to achieve excellent running performance.

Main components including the main frame, transmission, and rear axle are newly designed based on the latest technology and durability standards.

The latest KOMTRAX Plus (Mining Machine Management System) greatly enhances the real-time monitoring function of the vehicles. Visualization of the status of the machine and operation contributes to on-site safety and improvement of productivity and rate of operation.

Equipped with an on-demand control that reduces the loss of horsepower in the hydraulic system and the eco-guidance that provides advice for energy-saving operation, in order to improve fuel efficiency.

In order to improve safety, KomVision (ambient monitoring system for general construction machinery), an automatic lock function for the lock lever, the secondary engine stop switch, and large handrails to prevent falling are newly adopted.

Dump truck OPEN

The history of the dump truck as a transporting vehicle is also the history of increasing the amount of loading to improve productivity at construction sites. At mines especially, new technology is being introduced consistently even today. Enlarging the size by mechanical and electrical formulas, and adding the GPS control system are some of the examples.
