The Museum of CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT

2010 OPEN

As use of ICT for construction equipment became more common, things like crewless dump trucks, IT execution, and KOMTRAX were further developed. Hybrid equipment that decreased both fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission was introduced and marked a new generation of construction machines.

Komatsu Super large size dump truck 980E-4

The series of super large electric-drive dump trucks used in mines around the world is expanded, and "980E-4" (rated load capacity: 369 tons), the largest model by Komatsu, has been introduced to the market.

980E-4 was developed by Komatsu America Corp. using the quality and reliability cultivated by Komatsu's previous largest model, "960-E2," and its main product, "930E-4," as its basis. It is manufactured at Komatsu's Peoria plant (Illinois, USA), and supplied to mines around the world.

Dump truck OPEN

The history of the dump truck as a transporting vehicle is also the history of increasing the amount of loading to improve productivity at construction sites. At mines especially, new technology is being introduced consistently even today. Enlarging the size by mechanical and electrical formulas, and adding the GPS control system are some of the examples.
