The Museum of CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT

2010 OPEN

As use of ICT for construction equipment became more common, things like crewless dump trucks, IT execution, and KOMTRAX were further developed. Hybrid equipment that decreased both fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emission was introduced and marked a new generation of construction machines.

A total of six iMC construction equipment models, five of which are iMC bulldozers and one of which is an iMC hydraulic excavator, that realize the world's first intelligent machine control.

Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has announced the promotion of "i-Construction," as a measure to solve a variety of issues in the construction industry, including labor shortage, and to improve the productivity of construction work sites. From FY2016 onwards, new standards based on three-dimensional data will be introduced in the investigation and survey, design, construction, and inspection processes in order to fully utilize the iMC in earthworks under its direct jurisdiction. Komatsu's Smart Construction is compatible with each process of the i-Construction specified by the MLIT.

Komatsu's iMC bulldozer drastically improves work efficiency by being equipped with the world's first automatic blade control function that automatically controls the blade during work including the excavation, in addition to finishing work on leveling. iMC hydraulic excavator is equipped with the world's first machine control technology, which controls the work machine (boom, arm, and bucket) operation while cross-referencing the position of the bucket blade edge obtained from GNSS (GPS + GLONASS) antenna and corrective information against the construction design data.

Bulldozer OPEN

Since its first emergence in 1951, it took only 50 years for the hydraulic shovel to establish its primary position on construction sites worldwide. Its size ranges from mini to super size depending on the scale of construction, and during the half century, it kept evolving by achieving a minimum rear-swing radius and adapting styles that would work with characteristics of each site. Mirroring the movement of a human hand, a hydraulic shovel will continue to evolve during the 21st century.
