>Dig>Continuous Miner
With special cutting bits that look like teeth, continuous miners are used for mining underground, typically in room and pillar operations. Room and pillar mining is effective when an underground mine is divided into a series of "rooms" or work areas cut into the earth. To keep people out of harm's way, CMs are operated via radio remote control. CMs' characteristic features include a "cutter head" which looks like a large rotating drum.
